Teddy Dear was developed exclusively for Gepard to give knitters a bouclé yarn made from 100% natural fibres that is both easy to work with and wonderful to wear. Developed by Sus Gepard in 2019–2020, Teddy Dear became the original bouclé yarn of its kind without polyamide — created from a clear vision of combining modern texture yarns with natural materials and responsible production.

The yarn is soft, full-bodied and constructed with closed loops, unlike many traditional bouclé yarns where the loops remain open. This special construction allows the needles to glide more easily through the stitches and creates a more even knitting experience. As with all textured yarns, it may take a little concentration at first to find your rhythm, but the reward is a fabric with beautiful volume, softness and life.

Superfine alpaca adds natural softness, fullness and shape retention, while the merino wool contributes elasticity and resilience. The finished knit feels comfortable against the skin, breathable and warm without becoming heavy.

Teddy Dear can be used for many different kinds of designs. Its lively surface is beautiful in simple stockinette projects, but it also creates stunning effects in more textured patterns or when combined with other yarns such as Puno or Woolia.

Recommended needle size: 5–10 mm

Meterage: 50 g = 75 m

Gauge: 10–16 sts = 10 cm
Typical sweater gauge: 13–15 sts = 10 cm on 5–6 mm needles

Care instructions

Hand wash at 20–25 °C using a minimal amount of neutral wool soap. Wash inside a laundry bag, rinse in water of the same temperature and spin briefly at low to medium speed. Lay flat to dry and gently shake the garment when half dry to restore maximum volume. Always read the full hand-washing instructions before washing your knitwear.
